Elephant Hunting
Chete has a year round, non migratory population of elephant and as such the hunting is as good all year, although later on in the year, as it gets hotter, the elephant tend to concentrate on the lake flood plains in search of the fertile panacum grass. The rugged terrain and huge undeveloped areas means that elephant hunters in Chete must be prepared to walk long distances. The trophy quality is typical of Zambezi valley elephant with long thin ivory and the average size bull taken is in the region of 40 pounds a side.
